About 1,000 right-wing extremists marched through Berlin to protest the German government’s plan to ban the far-right National Democratic Party. Several hundred leftists held a counter-rally nearby. Several police officers were injured when the 1,800 police who were on duty had to forcibly keep the two sides apart.
