The court characterized as “silly” an accusation made by Major Muellenhausen, the publisher of the German edition of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The accusation in question is a statement by Major Muellerhausen that the statues of headless birds decorating the villa of Walter Rathenau were intended as a mockery of the German monarchy.
Fran Rathenau, the mother of Walter Rabhanau, brought suit for libel against the Major for this statement, and the court in handing down a decision, acquitting the Major of libelous intent, said that the accusation was silly, but made in good faith.
