Aaron Ackerman, one of the pioneer Orthodox leaders of Detroit, died at the age of 88 after a brief illness.
Born in Russia, Ackerman came here forty-four years ago. He was the organizer of many important movements, including the Jewish Old Folks Home, and served on the boards of important institutions—the United Hebrew Schools, House of Shelter, the old Jewish Orphan Home, and of many synagogues.
At the time of his death he was president of Congregation Beth Jacob. He was one of the organizers and outstanding workers for Mo’os Chitim Passover relief.
