Actor-director Roberto Benigni dedicated the Oscar he won Sunday for best foreign film to the victims of the Holocaust “who gave their lives so we can say life is beautiful.” Benigni, who also won the best actor award for “Life Is Beautiful,” was the first filmmaker to direct his own Oscar-winning performance since 1948, when Laurence Olivier won the acting award for “Hamlet,” which he also directed.
