Austrian nationals who as concentration camp inmates worked as slave laborers in German private industry or state-controlled armaments plants will benefit from German restitution legislation, West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency this week-end.
Dr. Adenauer, who is currently visiting Austria, said that Austrian nationals will be eligible for such indemnification payments after the signing of the projected Bonn-Austrian agreement. Dr. Adenauer said that Germany feels a “moral obligation” to former concentration camp prisoners.
