The B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League said today that it welcomed the $24 million libel suit filed against it in the U.S. District Court in Washington by Col. Hassan Jeru-Ahmed, director of the Blackman’s Development Center, who the League has accused of anti-Semitism, Seymour Graubard, national chairman of the ADL, said that “as of today, ADL has not been served with the Hassan complaint but upon such service the League has directed counsel to take all possible steps necessary to bring the case to trial as quickly as possible for a full and fair public airing.” An ADL spokesman said the ADL has seen the complaint.

Hassan accuses the defense agency of allegedly conspiring to block a $523,000 Federal grant for remedial education and occupational programs conducted by the Blackman’s Development Center. The ADL described the center as “part of a complicated maze of operations directed by Hassan, including a paramilitary ‘Blackman’s Volunteer Army of Liberation’ and an organization that he calls the ‘Provisional Government of the United Moorish Republic.'” Graubard said today that the forthcoming litigation “will bring Hassan’s full career of bigotry and anti-social conduct to public scrutiny.” He noted that as recently as July 4, Hassan “repeated his long held anti-Semitic views” on a Washington TV show.
