Ceremonies continuing over three days have been arranged in honor of Adolph Lewisohn, philanthropist and music patron, who celebrates his eightieth birthday today. Yesterday Mr. Lewisohn was the guest of the Hebrew Sheltering Guardian Society at Pleasantville, whose president he is. Today will be given over to friends and relatives, while on Tuesday he will be honored by the Hebrew Technical School for Girls which he helped found.
Mr. Lewisohn is credited with merging various Jewish charitable organizations of New York into one group under the name of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies. He donated the School of Mines Building to Columbia University and makes possible the summer evening concerts held for eight weeks every year in the College of the City of New York Stadium, his gift to the college. He has for years been a leader in prison reform and has contributed large sume to the Mount Sinai Hospital, of which he is a director.
