Tahir Safi, Charge d’Affaires of the Afghanistan Embassy here, today assured the executive of the Agudas Israel organization that “racial prejudice does not exist” in his country and that “no distrinctions are made between one race and another, in the realm of civil and religious rights, in Afghanistan.”
“Rumors of anti-Jewish actions in Afghanistan cannot be credited,” he said. “There is nothing to prevent Jews who wish to emigrate from the country to do so, since the necessary facilities are available to them, as to all other citizens.” The Agudah office here conveyed M. Saff’s remarks to the Agudah executive in Jerusalem, in view of the steps now being taken to facilitate the movement of Afghanistan Jews to Israel.
