What is termed a “joyful funeral” took place today in the Jewish community here. The occasion was the death of the 100 year old Jew, Messoud el Hallea. The entire Jewish community participated in the funeral, and he was carried to his eternal resting place amidst general rejoicing. This is in conformity with the old custom among African Jews of celebrating the death of a centenarian.
