An indication of the anti-German sentiments of some of the Nazis’ Italian allies is evidenced in the report today of a wounded Italian officer who sought treatment from a Jewish doctor somewhere in Palestine.
“I would be glad to help you,” replied the physician, “but I am a Jew and your laws prohibit Italians from being treated by Jews.”
“Politics are politics,” the officer retorted, “but my legs are more important. You do your duty. After all I am not a German.”
