After eight years of construction, the nearly 100 Jewish families in Brasilia have a synagogue. Dr. Benno Milnitzky, of Sao Paulo, president of Brazil’s Jewish Confederation, journeyed to the Brazilian capital for the inaugural ceremony. Also participating in the ceremony was the Israeli Ambassador Moshe Erel. The area for the synagogue building, which includes a community center, was donated by the city government. The building cost about $200,000.
