A group of aged refugees has been assured here life-long support as a result of a unique plan worked out by representatives of the International Refugee Organization, Joint Distribution Committee and the Dutch Government, it was reported here today.
The refugees, most of whom fled to Holland from Germany and Austria during the Hitler regime, will receive 30 guilders monthly for life from the Commercial Life Insurance Company as annuities purchased by the Dutch Government with funds provided by the I.R.O. and J.D.C. This is the first time that “hard core” refugees have been reestablished on a basis of receiving annuities, H.Sark, chief of the I.R.O. mission in Holland emphasized.
The Dutch Government will send a trade mission to Tel Aviv early next month to work out the details of a new trade pect between the two nations, it was announced here today. The existing trade agreement expires August 1. The Dutch delegation will be led by Dr. A. Van Blankenstein, of the Ministry of Economics.
