An appeal to the British people to carry out “your solemn obligation under the Balfour Declaration and the Mandate, and open wide the gates of Zion for the return of the Jewish people,” was issued here today by the administrative committee of the Jewish Agency for Palestine. The appeal points out that Palestine has the capacity immediately to settle thousands of homeless children and youths.
The Agency administrative committee and the Zionist General Council adopted a joint resolution supporting the stand taken by the Agency’s Executive Committee in rejecting the Woodhead Commission’s report as a basis for the proposed British-Jewish-Arab conferences.
The Council adopted a $5,000,000 budget for the ensuing year, half of it to be covered by a loan.
