The Jewish Agency is undertaking urgent steps in order to facilitate the transfer of emigrants to Israel from Morocco, Itzhak Raphael, head of the Agency’s immigration department, said here.
The purpose of Mr. Raphael’s visit is to implement a plan for the transfer of 3,000 young Jews from various parts of North Africa to Israel settlements. A plan is under study, he said, to establish 10 new Israel cooperative settlements where the 3,000 immigrants would be immediately absorbed.
Mr. Raphael was enthusiastically received by the Moroccan Jewish community.
