A four-month-old dispute over kashruth supervision on El Al planes was resolved today when Transport Minister Israel Bar Yehuda told the Cabinet he had reached an agreement on the matter with Religious Affairs Minister Zerah Warhaftig.
The Transport Minister said he would issue directives jointly with Dr. Warhaftig to enable the Chief Rabbinate’s Kashruth division to inspect food arrangements on the airline. El Al will make available several trips annually on its planes for representatives of the division who will make inspections at plane stops. If unsatisfactory kashruth arrangements are found by the representatives, they will be submitted to El Al’s administration for prompt investigation.
