The central committee of the World Agudas Israel Organization today issued a statement declaring that leaders of the organization here are unaware of any proposal for an Arab-Jewish round table conference.
Such a round-table parley would at this moment only delay the transfer to Palestine of Jews who are now starving and dying from cold in camps in Germany, Dr. Enhak Breuer, a member of the Agudas Isracl central committee, told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. He emphasized that the transfer of these displaced Jews to Palestine cannot be delayed for a single moment.”
The statement of the central committee was made following a report from Washington that an Agudah delegation headed by Jacob Rosenheim, world president of the organization, had visited Secretary of State James F. Byrnes and submitted a proposal for a round-table conference of Arabs and Jews looking primarily toward the admission into Palestine of 100,000 Jews from Europe. The report said that Mr. Byrnes had promised to submit the proposal to President Truman.
