Agudist Leader Exhorts Jews to Live Jewishness with Joy, Not As a Yoke

More than 1,000 guests, including 200 rabbis, attended the 46th anniversary dinner of Agudath Israel of America here Sunday night and heard Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, chairman of the Council of Torah Sages of Agudath Israel, exhort Jews to “live their Jewishness with Joy and not as a cumbersome yoke.” Rabbi Yehuda Meier Abramovitz, vice-mayor of Tel Aviv, told the dinner that Israel will retain the holy places regained during the Six-Day War. A message from President Johnson lauding the Agudath Israel’s activities for education was read to the assembly, Awards for distinguished service to Orthodox Judaism were presented by Rabbi Moshe Sherer, executive vice-president, to Irving I. Stone of Cleveland and Julius Klugman and Moses Braunstein of New York.
