A reception in honor of Dr. Joseph Burg, Israel Minister of Posts and Telegraph, who came here to help launch the 1954 United Israel Campaign, was cancelled tonight following a disturbance created by a large number of Agudists who turned out to protest the conscription of Orthodox women for non-military service in Israel.
The Agudists forced their way into the hall where the reception was about to begin and attempted to question Dr. Burg in reference to conscription. A number of guests attempted to persuade them to leave. Fights broke out and a number of chairs were shattered, although no one was hurt. The reception, given by Joseph Ariel, Israel Minister to Brussels, was called off in an attempt to avert further trouble.
