Air-mail Between Palestine and Russia Started; Refugees Reach Palestine from Turkey

Air-mail service between Palestine and Soviet Russia was started today for the first time. The mail is flown from Jerusalem to Teheran, Persia, and forwarded from there to various destinations in Russia by land.

A group of 74 Jewish refugees reached here today from Turkey. Included were 39 youths who succeeded in reaching Turkey from Nazi satellite countries in Europe. A larger group of Jewish refugees is expected to arrive here from Turkey within a few days. It was announced today that during 1943 the Jews in Palestine spent $1,200,000 for relief and rescue work for Jews in Europe. Half of this sum was allowed by the Jewish Agency.
