A direct air service between Port Said, Egypt, and Haifa, Palestine, with stops at Gaza, Jerusalem and Jericho, began operations on February 15. The Misr Airwork, Ltd., of Egypt, is providing 7-seater twin-engine cabin aircraft. The distance from the Jericho airport to Cairo will be covered in three hours and twenty minutes; the train journey from Jerusalem to Cairo takes fourteen hours, including a ferry ride over the Suez Canal at Kantara. The Port Said-Haifa route will be operated only when weather permits. The round-trip costs $54, and one-way flight only, $30.
