Air traffic was resumed at Lydda Airport today after a 24-hour strike by pilots and maintenance crews in support of strong international measures against air piracy and terrorism. The strike was part of a global action by pilots yesterday that grounded air traffic in 30 countries including most of Western Europe and part of the US.
Crowds of passengers who had to postpone their flights yesterday Jammed the terminal this morning. Twenty-two planes were scheduled to take off from Lydda and 39 were due to arrive. The first to land today was a charter flight of pilgrims which was diverted to Cyprus yesterday.
