Alexander Cuza, leader of the Roumanian anti-Semites, who was defeated at the last elections, may be reelected to parliament.

His candidacy was proposed in Beleco, Bessarabia. The government party has put forward no candidate, the only opponent of Cuza being the candidate of the National Peasants Party. It was stated that Cuza’s reelection depends on whether he will obtain government support.

JEWISH YOUTH IS AWAKE TO DUTY, COUNCIL TOLD

“The Jewish youth of America is awake to its responsibilities,” declared Mrs. Leonard B. Schloss, Chairman of the Department of Junior Auxiliaries of the National Council of Jewish Women, in reviewing the work of the National Council of Junior Sections.

“Those who are pessimistic about the spirit of our youth today need only contemplate the activities of the Council Junior Sections to be rid of their misgivings,” Mrs. Schloss declared. “The most gratifying feature of this movement among our Jewish youth is that its duties and obligations have been self-imposed, Our young women come to us and ask us to guide them in a program of work. They find in our religious, civic, educational and philanthropic projects and purposes the inspiration they need for harnessing their energies to the welfare of Judaism, the community and the nation.”

There are at present more than 100 Junior Sections. The objective of the national Junior organization is to establish a Junior Section in each of the 237 cities in the United States and Canada that have Senior Council Sections.

The Junior biennial convention will be held in Nashville in October.
