Algiers Rabbi Discusses Jewish Problems with Delegate General

Rabbi David Ashkenazi, Chief Rabbi of Algiers, described today to Delegate General Paul Delouvrier some of the problems of the Algerian Jewish community. The rabbi, accompanied by M. Saffar, president of the Algiers Jewish Consistory, paid a courtesy call on the Delegate General.

The official induction of Rabbi Ashkenazi as Chief Rabbi was held yesterday in the presence of the Chief Rabbi of France, Jacob Kaplan, officials of civilian and military agencies, rabbis from many parts of Algeria and representatives of Jewish and non-Jewish organizations. Chief Rabbi Kaplan made a special trip to preside at the induction.
