The Governor of Michigan State, Mr. Brucker, has signed the Aliens Registration Bill, despite the efforts of the opposition to persuade him to exercise his veto against it. Many patriotic organisations insisted that the Governor should sign the bill and let the opposition carry out their threat to take the fight to the Federal Court by challenging it as unconstitutional, on the ground that it would provide them with a test case, for which 20 other States are waiting, ready if the Bill is ruled as valid to enact similar Bills in their own States.
The Law Committee set up at Detroit by the opponents of the Registration Bill is going into the Federal Court on Monday to ask for an interlocutary decree restraining the State officials from enforcing the law, contending that it is totally unconstitutional.
