The Jewish Agency announced here today that it plans to open a new aliya office in Dallas, Texas at the start of September to coordinate aliya efforts in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico.
Officials said that at the present time, Jews in those states interested in settling in Israel must get in touch with aliya offices in Los Angeles or Atlanta. The new office will be directed by Joseph Shamir, 33, formerly an Israeli emissary in the Los Angeles office. A graduate of Hebrew University, he is married and the father of three children. The new office is sponsored by the Jewish Agency’s immigration and absorption department.
