All displaced persons in New York City who cannot return to their native countries were urged today by Hugo Rogers, vice-president of the HIAS, to register for permanent residence in this country under the Displaced Persona Act of 1948.
Mr. Rogers noted that under the terms of the DP legislation, 15,000 DP’s now living in the United States on a temporary basis may obtain permanent status. He stressed the importance of prompt registration. The BIAS offices will aid in registering all eligible DP’s regardless of race or creed.
