All Jewish institutions and organizations will be taken over by the various departments of the Polish Government by the end of 1949, it was reported here today. The Central Committee of Polish Jews will be converted into a purely advisory body without any administrative functions, it was stated.
Already the Agudas Israel–which has in the past never had any legal status–has been closed down and its offices in Lodz sealed. During the past week, reports here state, the Keren Kayemeth and Keren Hayesod offices in Warsaw, Cracow, Wroclaw and other cities have been closed while the offices of the two funds in Lodz have been sealed and all their papers and documents confiscated.
