An appeal to all Jewish relief and philanthropic organizations in Britain to “devote their activities in the next two to three years to the relief of newcomers in Israel” was voiced here last night by Dr. Israel Brodie, Chief Rabbi of the British Empire, addressing a conference of the Federation of Jewish Relief Organizations here.
The British Chief Rabbi continued: “I want to go on record as stating that all philanthropic relief work in our community should go to the relief of the newcomers in Israel and that any plans that groups concerned may have regarding extension of their activities in other directions should be postponed.”
