An additional 5,000 children were enrolled during the past year in schools maintained by the Alliance Israelite Universelle in North Africa and the Middle East, bringing the total number of students at present in Alliance schools to 47,000, it was reported here at the annual meeting of the American Friends of the Alliance by Jules Brauschvig, vice-president.
During the past year, Braunschvig disclosed, the organization’s vocational training program in Jerusalem was expanded, a school jointly operated by the Alliance Morocco were launched. The organization receives some of its funds from the Joint Distribution Committee for use in North Africa and from the American Fund for Palestinian Institutions for use in Palestine.
