The Allied High Commission for West Germany today disapproved a law of the North Rhine-Westphalian legislature which would have granted to German Jewish communities now in existence the right of succession to all rights and property of former Jewish communities.
The Commission said that by so doing the provincial legislature prejudiced the interests of German Jews who no longer dwell in Germany and who might have a stake in the assets of dissolved communities. It indicated that if the offending passages of the legislation were eliminated the remainder of the law would be approved.
