The “employment of scientific barbarism” in persecution and intolerance causes “mankind to blush with shame and sicken with horror,” Josephus Daniels, United States Ambassador to Mexico and former Secretary of Navy, declared tonight at a dinner given in his honor by the newly-formed Council Against Intolerance in America at the Metropolitan Club. Mr. Daniels declared that as long as Jews and Christians worked together “in love of humanity,” then “intolerance can obtain little foothold in America.”
