The American Academy for Jewish Research held its fifteenth annual meeting yesterday in the Jewish Theological Seminary here. Professor Sale W. Baron of Columbia University was re-elected president.
Dr. Julius Brutzkus of the Yiddish Scientific Institute presented a thesis on the Jewish Khazer State in Southern Russia in which he traced the influence of Jews and Turks on Russian life in the eighth and ninth centuries. Dr. Ilse Lichtenstedter of the Jewish Theological Library wrote on the situation of non-Moslems in the early Moslem Empire, declaring that Mussulmans tolerated neither Jews nor Christians. Professor Isaiah Sonne of Hebrew Union College compared the recent expulsions of Jews with the exodus of the Jews from Egypt.
