Richard Boone, the actor whose most recent film, “Madron,” is an American-style Western filmed in Israel, has expressed pride in that country and its citizens in an interview with David Frost. The interview will be telecast on Frost’s program this Friday. Boone suggested that foreign filmmakers consider Israel as the location for their pictures just as they now think of Spain or other countries with scenic attributes. On another point, he called Golda Meir “the greatest woman of the century” and observed that, unlike American society, “the structure of Jewish society is better able to cope with a female head of state.” He added that “there is a real desire for peace in Israel” and that “the country goes forward and rights are preserved by the economic system.” He takes pride in Israel, he said, for “confronting the world and making its position known.” While Israelis “don’t want to give up anything,” he added, they are now “for the first time discussing the rights and wrongs” of the Middle East situation.
