The Israel Victory Medal was formally presented last night to more than 300 veterans of the Jewish Legion now residing in the United States and Canada who fought for the liberation of Palestine in the First World War. The presentation was made by Colonel Yehuda Prihar, Military, Air and Naval Attache at the Israel Embassy in Washington, at a dinner at the Park Sheraton Hotel here.
The Jewish Legion was conceived by Vladimir Jabotinsky and Josef Trumpeldor, and was organized by the British War Office during the early days of the First World War.
