A delegation representing the American-Christian Palestine Committee today conferred with Henry A. Byroade, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and urged the State Department not to send arms to the Arab countries until peace is definitely assured in the Near East. The delegation was composed of Rev. Karl Baehr, the committee’s executive director, and Dr. Carl Herman Voss, chairman.

Meanwhile, the group sent a letter to President Eisenhower informing him that 300 Americans have signed a declaration calling on him to stop the arms shipments in question. Among the signers were CIO president Walter Reuther and Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt.
