The impact of recent Soviet advances in the Middle East on the area’s internal problems will be the principal topic of the three-day national conference of the American Christian Palestine Committee which opened here tonight.
Several hundred delegates will hear Ernest K. Lindley, Chief of the Washington Bureau of Newsweek magazine, who will discuss the possibilities of an Arab-Israel settlement in the context of general United States policy objectives. Brig. Gen. Hugh Hester, (U. S.Army Ret.), will review military aspects of the East-West rivalry in the Middle East. Other speakers will analyze United States economic aid policies in the Middle East.
