A statement mourning the loss of Prof. Eliezer Sukenik, head of the Hebrew University Department of Jewish Archaeology and Keeper of the Museum of Jewish Antiquities of Jerusalem, who died this past week-end, was issued here today by Dr. George S. Wise, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University.
Prof. Sukenik’s achievements, Dr. Wise said, “added immeasurably to the world’s store of knowledge of the origins of our civilization. To all who knew him, as a beloved teacher and an inspired researcher, the news of his death has brought a sense of grievous loss.”
