The American Fund for Israel Institutions inaugurated its 1956 Fall campaign for $2 million at a dinner here this evening. New officers of the fund, headed by president Samuel Rubin, were installed at the dinner.
Dr. Abram L. Sachar, Brandeis University president, who was the chief speaker, told the diners that “one of the most significant manifestations of vitality in the Israel community comes from its insistence upon maintaining the highest level of cultural life even in the midst of the most serious economic and military crises.”
Mr. Rubin announced plans for the construction of 12 community centers to be established in outlying settlements in Israel. He revealed that various Israeli artists will visit the United States next year.
