An American has been awarded the first Doctor of Philosophy degree given by the Feinberg Graduate School of the Weizmann Institute of Science here. Dr. Benjamin S. Benjaminov, a professor of chemistry at Rose Polytechnic Institute, at Terre Haute, Ind., received his doctorate for a study on anti-tumor compounds in cucumbers.
The Feinberg Graduate School was established by a $1,000,000 grant from Abraham Feinberg of New York and his family, in memory of his parents, Jac and Eva Feinberg.
