Plans to expand its educational activities were announced here today by Ozar Hatorah, agency for Jewish schools which supports 76 educational establishments in North Africa and the Middle East in which more than 15,000 Jewish boys and girls receive religious and secular education.
In a statement by Isaac Shalom, president of the organization, it was emphasized that American Jews must pay more attention to the “forgotten million” of Jews in North Africa, Iran and other Moslem countries. “The Jews in that area constitute today one of the largest reservoirs of world Jewry desiring and needing combined religious and secular education,” the statement pointed out.
