A delegation of the American Jewish Committee leaders left today by plane for Latin America to study the situation of the Jews in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru and to establish closer relationships with Jewish leaders there. The State Department had expressed interest in the goodwill mission of the delegation and is facilitating some aspects of the trip.
The delegation is headed by Irving M. Engel, president of the American Jewish Committee, and Jacob Blaustein, honorary president. Members of the delegation will visit religious, educational and welfare organizations in the Latin American countries and will confer with government leaders there.
