The 56th annual meeting of the American Jewish Committee opens here tomorrow to discuss problems concerning American Jewish life, security of Israel, and the position of the Jews in North Africa and other countries. One of the principal speakers at the four-day meeting will be Adlai Stevenson, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, who will receive the Committee’s American Liberties Medalion “for exceptional advancement of the principles of human liberty.”

A guide to aid public understanding of the complex issues of religion and public education in this country was published today by the Committee in connection with the annual meeting. There are now two cases before the United States Supreme Court which test the constitutionality of the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer and Bible reading in the public schools. The entire issue will be discussed at the meeting.
