Representatives of the American Jewish Committee in various European countries and Palestine gathered here today for a conference to plan the program and policies of the organization for work in Europe. The conference, which is expected to last a week, is presided over by Joel E. Wolfsohn, director of European operations of the Committee.
George H, Lowenberg of Tel Aviv, who represents the organization in Palestine, reported on the present situation in Israel at today’s opening session. Questions concerning the work of combating anti-Senitism in various European countries, as well as of the cultural reconstruction of the Jewish communities in those countries, will be among the major topics of discussion. Professor Herman Gray, Dr. Simon Segal and Milton Himmelfarb are representing the New York headquarters of the organization at the parley.
