The American Jewish Committee has called on the United States Government to speedily ratify the international convention on the declaration of death of missing persons which was adopted earlier this month at an international conference held at Lake Success under the auspices of the United Nations, the Committee announced here today.
In a letter to Secretary of State Dean Acheson, Jacob Blaustein, president of the A.J.C., declared that “this convention, from which thousands of men, women and children–kith and kin of millions of persons who disappeared during World War II–stand to benefit, will contribute to the solution of an important, though unspectacular, problem which is one of the saddest legacies of the Nazi holocaust.”
