The American Jewish Congress tonight tendered a dinner to Rabbi Staphen S. Wise, its president, on the occasion of his 73rd birthday.
Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, the chief speaker, reviewed and paid tribute to Dr. Wise’s more than 50 years of service to his country and his people. Among those present at the dinner were Mayor William O’Dwyer, Senators Claude Papper, Charles W. Tobey, Alben W. Barkley and Irving Ives, former Secretary of State James F. Byrnes, Eleanor Roosevelt, Kenry Wallace, Justice Simon Rifkind, William Green and Philip Murray.
