American Jewish investors will construct 3,000 housing units in the Arab section of the Negev, it was announced here today by the Ministry of Housing. In the first stage of this undertaking, the announcement stated, 1,200 units will be built at a cost of $1,000,000.
The Ministry today approved an agreement for this investment made in the United States by its director, David Tanne. The investors are American Jews in the building and real estate industries. Construction on the first stage of the program, the Ministry stated, is expected to start by the end of this year.
Dr. William Haber, world president of the ORT, said here today his organization plans to build vocational training schools in Nazareth and Acre to help train Arabs there. The schools also will serve Jewish elementary school graduates in those areas. He said other projects included four schools for apprentices to be set up in the main cities and that talks were now underway with municipal and Israel Government officials for the schools.
