Nineteen-year-old Gary Schwartz of Far Rockaway, New York, was fined 30 pounds yesterday in magistrate’s court after pleading guilty to charges of crossing the Israel-Jordan border illegally.

The youth, in his plea, said his intention in making the crossing was merely one of adventure and that no malicious motive was involved The judge accepted the youth’s plea for mitigation but warned that his leniency should not be considered a precedent.

The New Yorker, who suffered three weeks imprisonment in Jordan after he was captured, is attending Hebrew University on a New York University scholarship.
