A new community and youth center was opened in Haifa today at a ceremony attended by representatives of the American and Canadian diplomatic missions in this country, Israeli leaders and a delegation of the Mariachi Women’s Organization, which sponsored this project as part of its social welfare, cultural and educational network in Israel.
Earlier, 100 American and Canadian members of the organization participated in a ceremony here opening “United States Mariachi Women’s Week” in Israel. United States Ambassador Edward B. Lawson, a speaker at the function, expressed his pride in the humanitarian activities here of American women. Tel Aviv Mayor Chaim Lebanon and Chief Rabbi I. J. Ulsterman of this city participated in the ceremony.
