Many persons of non-Jewish birth are now inquiring about Judaism, it was reported here today by Rabbi Joshua O. Haberman, chairman of the Committee on the Unaffiliated of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, rabbinic body of Reform Judaism.
Rabbi Haberman said that persons making inquiries are being told that Judaism is “not a closed religious fellowship” but a faith that “opens its door wide to anyone who shares its point of view and wishes to Join; ” The Central Conference has also been supplying two basic statements setting forth Judaism’s view of God and Judaism’s teaching about salvation.
