The Holyland Emergency Liaison Program, (H.E.L.P.), which was considered one of the most active pro-Arab and anti-Zionist groups in the United States, has dissolved, it was learned today. It was also learned that the Arab Information Service has also become inactive.

H.E.L.P. was established by Dorothy Thompson, Virginia Gildersleeve, Kermit Roosevelt, George M. Barakat, Mrs. Mark Ethridge, Lessing J. Rosenwald, chairman of the American Council for Judaism, and others. Alfred Lilienthal a Washington attorney who took an active part in the national organization of the American Council for Judaism, was the secretary of H.E.L.P.

(In a statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Mr. Rosenwald said that “H.E.L.P. terminated its operations in October, 1950, when other agencies took up the problem of Arab refugees, which was its original reason for coming into existence.”)

Officials of H.E.L.P. worked closely with Arab diplomats and members of the State Department interested in the Arab states. The organization distributed a considerable quantity of propaganda matter, in the form of press releases and publications.
